Gita Stulberg
SJL Founder
Gita Stulberg founded Social Justice Lab (SJL) in 2017 with the mission of bringing professionals from varied backgrounds together to innovate new strategies for progress in social justice, as well as to identify and cultivate new social justice leadership. SJL is currently advising a voter registration initiative lead by students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas. SJL is also consulting on a voter education project.
Stulberg joined Andrew Gillum’s 2018 Florida gubernatorial campaign to work on his Bus Tour near the end of the primaries, when he was in 4th place. When Gillum moved on to become the Democratic nominee, Stulberg served the campaign as Surrogates Director. She has also served as the State Director of Principals and Surrogates for Hillary for America (HFA) 2016 in Florida. Prior to the HFA campaign she served as the Senior Advisor in the Office of Public Engagement at the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). During her appointment at GSA she spearheaded national outreach initiatives, identified opportunities for collaboration with stakeholders to promote the agency’s work, support the agency’s senior leadership and identify upcoming leaders.
Stulberg started her tenure as a President Obama Appointee in the Northeast and Caribbean region of GSA as Special Assistant to the Regional Administrator. In this role she liaised with federal, state and local elected officials, labor unions, under-served communities, women-owned and disadvantaged businesses and industry groups to facilitate the advancement of multi-agency programs and business development.
Stulberg has spent several years working in strategic planning and analysis for consulting firms, non-profits, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations and political campaigns, including President Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaigns.
Stulberg’s advocacy work started at ten-weeks-old strapped into a carrier on her mother’s belly as they canvassed door-to-door for a school board member in Rochester, New York. She has a BA in Drama from SUNY Purchase.
